Saara was born in Helsinki, the most Northern metropolitan area of the world. Her family consisted of mother Virva, a kindergarten manager, a father Risto, a metal worker and seven years older sister Riina.

Saara first started performing when she was 3 years old, then in a Finnish folk music and dance group. Saara's mother was a keen amateur actress and took Saara with her to the rehearsals because she was too young to stay home by herself. However, Saara soon got bored of just watching others act and made her theatre debut in Shakespeare's 'The Tempest' in 1990, only seven years old. The director of Theater Beowulf, Joel Elstela, said Saara was 'the only real star of the production'. Saara then attended several youngsters theater courses and productions and performed and directed theater in the schools she went to.

At 18 she graduated from Kallio College of Performing Arts, Helsinki.

She wanted to broaden her skills in performance in media as well as theater so she studied radio and television performance in Helsinki. She worked in Radiomafia by Finnish Broadcasting Company as well as several television, film and video productions.

In between studying and working in Finland, she lived and worked abroad, traveled and took part in several international conferences and courses.

In 2004 Saara worked in Lithuania in 'Summer Media Studio' international short film festival with Polish director Diana Voxerbrant and Finish director Johanna Salomäki. Saara starred in Voxerbrant's film 'The Elevator' that was awarded the best film of the festival. Saara was awarded as the best actress for Salomäki's 'The Silent Waves'.

In 2005 Saara moved to England to study performance. She trained in Dartington College of Arts, school associated with cutting edge contemporary practitioners that are critically acclaimed. Saara did collaborations with several artists, including Austrian choreographer Doris Valtiner and Canadian writer Alan Reed. In Dartington Saara created several performances, including 'What?', 'What? What?' and short film 'Perfect'.

In 2007 Saara graduated as a Bachelor of Arts, theatre and choreographic practices.

Betwen 2007-2009 she worked in several film, theatre and dance productions in England.

In 2009, Saara spent three months in India and received a Yoga teachers certificate.

In 2010 Saara became the first artist-in-resident in the prestige art centre Montsalvat in Melbourne, Australia.

In Australia, Saara performed in numerous short films, independent features, and she made her tv debut in Underbelly Files: Tell Them Lucifer Was Here in 2011 playing the part of Sabrina, the German Backpacker.

In 2012 Saara received the Distinguished Talent Permanent Residency in Australia.

In 2013 she wrote, directed in produced 'Waiting for Eva' short film that went to many international and Australian film festivals. She also wrote, produced and starred in 'Candy Cravings' as a part of the 48 hour Film Competition. The film won 'Best Music' (Charly Harrison) and went on to many other festivals including the Melbourne Queer Film Festival.

In 2014 Saara's feature film screenplay Innuendo won Bronze at the Beverly Hills Screenplay Contest.
